Today 3rd December, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, an informal meeting of the United Nations’ Security Council on Persons with Disabilities in Armed Conflicts will take place in New York.

Last week, 93 States parties, 11 observer states, UN-Institutions, International Organisations and the big range of active members of ICBL, such as HI, exchanged at the yearly meeting of states parties about successes and challenges concerning the implementation of the Ottawa Convention.

More than 60% of the Syrian refugee households include a person with disability, and 1/5 of refugees in Lebanon and Jordan have a disability, according to a new study by HI and iMMAP*.
