State representatives of 23 States from Latin America and the Caribbean met 5-6 December in in Santiago, Chile, for a two-day regional meeting aimed at better protecting civilians from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas.

Last week, 93 States parties, 11 observer states, UN-Institutions, International Organisations and the big range of active members of ICBL, such as HI, exchanged at the yearly meeting of states parties about successes and challenges concerning the implementation of the Ottawa Convention.

From 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Campaign is a time to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around the world. Against all women and girls, including those living with disabilities. The time for change is here and now.
