ALERT – Jean-Baptiste Richardier retires after more than thirty years at Handicap International

In May 2016, Jean-Baptiste Richardier, the co-founder of Handicap International and very first Executive Director of the Foundation, eventually retired after more than thirty years at the service of the most vulnerable.



After almost thirty-five years dedicated to helping the most vulnerable, Jean-Baptiste Richardier eventually decided to retire on May 31, 2016.

On this occasion, surprises were made and tributes sent in from all over the world !

At the headquarters, a farewell celebration was organised with the utmost secrecy, and it was only at the very end of the day that Jean-Baptiste discovered dozens of past and present staff members gathered in the cafeteria! Of course, speeches were given and songs sung but what was truly heartwarming were the gifts and videos send from all over the world !

Jean-Baptiste also gave a speech, stamped with the originality and passion which characterise him.

With his retirement, one chapter of the story surely closes. However, Jean-Baptiste hopes, and will make sure, his dedication for the most vulnerable will remain unchanged. To this extent, he intends for instance, to apply to Handicap International’s Federal Board of Administration.
