On March 17, 2016 Handicap International, represented by Jean-Baptiste Richardier, the Executive Director of Handicap International Foundation, convened the inhabitants of Lyon, where HI’s headquarters are located, to a very touching photographic exhibition portraying the lives of Syrian refugees.

Supporting Syrian civilians through their hardship

This exhibition, suggested by Médecins du Monde and jointly organized by Handicap International and Forum Réfugiés, focuses on personal tragedies, refugees’ current living conditions and their humanitarian needs. Entitled “Des mots pour refuge” (Finding shelter in words in English), it is composed exclusively of pictures of Syrian refugees, taken in either Jordan or Lebanon.

An exhibition open to all

Open to all from March 8 to April 2 at Lyon’s Opera House, the exhibition was officially unveiled on March 17th. On this occasion, Jean-Baptiste Richardier, the Executive Director of Handicap International Foundation, briefly took the floor to share some of the activities carried out by the association in Jordan, Lebanon and other countries such as Turkey, and to reiterate the NGO’s support to the Syrian civilians hardly hit by a five-year old conflict.
